What Does Good Marketing Look Like?

Writer: Vikas RajuVikas Raju

The easiest way to predict the success of your ad is to perform a simple, yet highly effective test—one I like to call the laser cut.

The next time you write an ad, ask yourself: “Is my message so sharp that it cuts straight to the heart of the matter?”

If not, then you’ve got some work to do.

In this article, we’ll discuss how to make your marketing so effective that it brings in more money than you spend.

Let’s get started:

Get Attention To Make More Sales

Social media is great in a lot of ways: it’s made it easy to find your target audience, you can talk to thousands of people, and it has great potential to go viral.

And it’s never been easier to get in front of your ideal customer.

⠀…Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutt…⠀

…there are downsides.⠀

The biggest one? Attention span. The biggest disease of our time, in my opinion, is TBS—TikTok Brain Syndrome.

I wish it didn’t affect us, but it does. All of our clients have reduced attention spans. Not because they want to, but because they NEED to.

How else can they deal with ads machine-gunning at them 24/7/365? It’s impossible!

So how do we fix this?

Don’t worry, I won’t ask you to do any TikTok dancing.⠀

There’s a better way.

How To Write A Successful Ad?

Just as you can judge a man’s character by the company he keeps, you can judge a successful ad by these three elements:

1. What is your message?

Are we offering something directly, or do we want them to fill out a form?

2. Who is your target audience?

Many business owners get stuck here.: “Oh, I sell to everyone with two arms and legs.”

No, that’s not the point. Every product has a specific demographic that is more likely to buy.

For example, if we’re selling cargo pants, we’ll most likely target men. That doesn’t mean women won’t buy, but they aren’t our primary target.

3. How are we reaching these people?

Which medium are we using to target them? Are they on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or YouTube?

So, the question you should be asking yourself is:

Which media are we going to use to reach our target audience with that message?

Now, I want you to research these questions.

No guessing… but research.

And after you’ve done that, your competitor, Bob, stands no chance. This is the cheat code of effective marketing.

Now, let’s get a little deeper into the first question:

Cut Through The Clutter With Your Message

We are bombarded by ads constantly, every minute of the day.

And the worst part is, most ads are pretty much the same–vague and lame.

So your message needs to stand out and cut through the heart of the matter.

You want your audience to watch your ad and think, "Oh, this message is for me."

So, instead of showing cute puppies or trying to be funny in your ads, be direct.

Tell them what you offer.

Ads are not supposed to be funny—they are supposed to sell.

Be direct in your message and have a clear CTA (call to action) that gets prospects to take some action.

This is the easiest way to cut through the clutter of ads and hit the heart of the matter.

In this article, we’ve covered the first point, and we’ll be back with the other two to make your marketing as effective as possible. So, stay tuned and…
